One thing that makes traveling interesting is how preconceived notions are so often wrong. Aarhus turned out to be a very different city than I had expected. I thought Aarhus would be a small city and a backwater compared to Copenhagen. I could not have been more wrong. Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark and has six large universities. It is a rich city with a large commercial port and a vibrant downtown with two very long pedestrian malls. It is a city with many bars, restaurants and high end shopping. The two museums were disappointing and the water front area is very industrial, so if you visit Aarhus go for the food, beer, shopping and culture.
