After we leave the International Olympic Academy we will visit an Olive Oil Mill where we will learn how to taste freshly pressed olive oil, sample olive oil productd and get a tour of the mill. We will end our day in Kardamyli where we will spend two nights.
Niki, our Rick Steves Tour guide introduces the Olympia museum and archeology site tour guide.
The Greek helmet on the right belonged to Miltiades. He was the king of Athens and the helmet was an offering to Zeus after a major victory over the Persians. Our guide made a big deal of this.
The tour, lunch and lecture was fantastic. The Rick Steves tour group was the first tour group to get permission to to tour the International Olympic Academy. When we were attending the lecture a photographer was there to document our visit. Rick Steves is still trying to decide if this visit will be a permanent part of the Greece tour.
We stopped for an hour at an olive oil mill to get a tour of the mill and sample some of the product. Light refreshment was served along with various foods made with olive oil.
Looks like an amazing trip so far! Enjoying your commentary and photos.
Looks like you’re having a wonderful time. Did they allow you to buy some olive oil?
Many people on our tour bought fresh olive oil and other products and had it shipped home. It cost more to ship the olive oil then to buy the olive oil. But most people thought it was worth it.
