Saint Petersburg is my home
In 2016 I retired to Saint Petersburg Florida to enjoy Florida, friends and travel. I live here because of the quality of life and the many cultural, educational and culinary venues that are available to anyone who lives or visits here. There are many opportunities to engage with the community. The University of South Florida in Saint Petersburg provides opportunities for continual learning and there are multiple community theater groups as well as art festivals and music festivals.
I was an aerospace engineer for over 30 years who lived and traveled all over the United States and in many parts of Europe. I still enjoy traveling and experiencing new places and exploring different cultures.
While Saint Petersburg will be my home for most of the year, I plan on traveling around the country and in many parts of the world. When I am not traveling, I enjoy hanging out with friends and enjoying Saint Petersburg. I enjoy exploring the local area and experiencing what this area of Florida has to offer.
St Petersburg Living
I love to travel, sometimes with friends, often by myself. I prepare for my adventures with a lot of planning and research. I understand why some travelers might prefer exploring new places on a cruise ship or a bus, but that is not for me. I enjoy the planning process almost as much as the traveling adventure. I learn about the history, culture and politics of the places I plan to visit. This learning process enhances the enjoyment of my travels and increases my curiosity. Stay in the historic center of an old city, wander the streets, while exploring new locations, embed yourself in the local culture, this is what makes travel fun and interesting. Travel is not about checking off boxes on a bucket list but enjoying the overall travel experience.

This blog is a hobby, a way for me to write about my home town and to share some highlights of my travels. I hope my friends and family will enjoy some of the shared experiences, photographs and videos, and learn a little about the places I visit and the people I meet. I look forward to sharing my passion for history, travel and food.
