Last day in Murren

The resort towns in the Alps have two seasons. There is the winter season for skiers and other winter sports and then there is the summer season for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The resort towns in the Alps, like Murren, have just recently began to open for the summer season. Not all hotels are open and many restaurants are still closed. I mention this because one activity I was looking forward too is renting a bike and riding it down the mountain from Murren to Lauterbrunnen in the valley, but the bike shop in Murren will not open till next week. So instead I took a gondola down to the valley floor to walk the trail.

Hiking the valley trail on a beautiful day was fantastic. The Alps were on my right and left, rising to over 10,000 feet on both sides. I got to see nature at its best.

After hiking the valley trail, I returned to Murren to enjoy a late lunch.

Too bad about the bike rental – that would have been fun. However, a beautiful spot to hike and break into Sound of Music twirls!!
