Exploring Bern, Day 2

My second day in Bern I decided to check out the Bern Museum of Fine Arts and the Einstein apartment since both will be closed on Monday (tomorrow). The Museum of Fine art was only so-so. It had a small collection of works from masters like Van Gogh, Dali and Picasso but most the museum was dedicated to modern art, which is not my thing.

This was Einstein’s apartment for the three years he lived in Bern. He was living in Bern when he wrote his scientific paper on the theory of relativity. He might have written his theory, sitting at the very table in this photo.

This clock was made in the early 16th century. It was an early demonstration of Swiss clock making skills. At each our the little characters on the clock do a little dance.
The famous Bern bear enclosure. The bear is the symbol of Bern.
Bern sits in the middle of the Aare river. The thing to do on a beautiful summer day is the float down the river.
