I arrived at Portela Airport in Lisbon this morning on schedule, arriving at the gate at 8:20 AM. I decided to take the metro from the airport to my hotel. At the Lisbon airport there was a long line of people waiting to buy a metro ticket; I waited 20 minutes. A metro ticket from the airport to my hotel was 2.50 Euros for a single trip, or you can buy a multi trip 24 hour pass for 7.10 Euros. I bought the latter. It took me 25 minutes to go from the airport to central Lisbon.
I went to my hotel to drop off my bags and check-out my hotel, the My Story Ouro hotel. I am very happy with the location and the staff is very friendly. It is a very nice boutique hotel with free breakfasts, coffee bar and outside tables to enjoy beer and wine in the evening.
I walked over to the harbor to check out the waterfront. The harbor is not far from my hotel.
Commerce Square faces Lisbon Harbor. This iconic image of Lisbon provides a view of the Arch of Triumph and the statue of King Jose I.
Sao Jorge Castle (below left) sits on top of the highest hill in Lisbon with an amazing view of the surrounding countryside and harbor. The castle is 360 feet above the harbor.
My first impression of Lisbon is positive. Today I spent a lot of time wandering through a very charming city. I am looking forward to my next two days exploring the city.
We’re glad to hear it was uneventful getting to the hotel and the accommodations and location is spot on! Was the hotel a Rick Steve’s recommendation?
Good morning! Yes this hotel was a Rick Steves recommended hotel. I was worried, because it was near the bottom of his recommended places to stay in Lisbon, just above the list of hostels. However it was a really good surprise. Nice room, clean, great location, free breakfast and a nice small bar to enjoy a evening drink all at a good price.
How was your kitty adventure? Want one now?
I survived the flight. Good alergy medicine.👍
