I arrived in Aarhus Denmark at 12:45 after a three hour train ride from Copenhagen. I checked into my hotel room and then explored the town. I am staying at the Mayor hotel which is an older hotel but very well located. It is right across the street from the train station and walking distance to everything. Aarhus is a cute city with many nice restaurants and stores. I did go to the AROS museum, which is the modern art museum and had an early dinner downtown.
I have been to many modern art museums, but the AROS museum is very weird and not to my taste. There were a few exhibits I enjoyed, but I think you really need to be in touch with your emotional interpreting side if you want to enjoy this museum.
I thought you might want to see what a Rick Steves $$$$ rated hotel room looks like. The hotels I stayed at in Copenhagen and Aarhus were recommended by Rick Steves in his guidebook. I found both rooms to be too small and almost uncomfortable. Especially the room in Aarhus.
The hotels themselves are clean, very well located and provide easy access to the city. Because the hotels are recommended by Rick Steves the hotels receive a larger number of Americans than the norm.
A realtor would call that room “cozy”, lol. Hope you have good weather tomorrow!
Thanks for the perspective on a $$$$ room in Aarhus, definitely not a room to linger in, probably reinforces being out and about a good part of the day.
This is not a room I would book again. However, they do have a very good breakfast that is “free”.
I think the hotel room is okay. Better than the Rick Steves recommended place in London, Luna and Simone. But I think the price is due to the location.
I agree Scott. The one things this hotel had in common with Luna and Simone is the location. Both hotels had fantastic location. My experience is that Rick Steves rates hotels based on location and cleanliness. He is not a fan of large chain hotels. Our room at Luna and Simone was pretty awful. Thank you for the reminder :).
