Today I woke up very early in the morning to catch a 06:10 metro train from Lagos to Tunes, where I got to ride on a high speed train from Tunes to Porto, a distance of 330 miles. This train reached speeds up to 120 mph. I enjoy train travel and train travel in Europe often provides great views of the country side and small towns.
When I arrived in Porto, I had to figure out the local metro system since it worked entirely different from how Lisbon’s metro system worked. After some confusion, I was able to buy a ticket that took me to a metro station across the street from the hotel for 1.90 euros.
I am staying at a Tapestry hotel, a member of the Hilton Hotel chain. The hotel is fairly new and in a great location.
I arrived at my hotel a little before three, so I had a few hours to explore the city and figure out what I am going to do with my day tomorrow. Porto is a charming city built on a bunch of hills so it is easy to get exhausted walking around. None of the streets are flat, they are either going up or going down.
